Funny Stories ›› Funny drunk stories ›› funny drunk stories 233 Pool-ing Around A few years back, I was asked to house sit for some friends of mine who were going out of town. The only rule was no big parties. "No worries" I says, and I meant it. The only people who came over were my parents with a pizza, (hadn’t seen them in weeks and the house in question was close to theirs), and 3 or four friends who were mutual fiends of the house owners and they only stayed for a few hours to say ”hey” and toss back a few beers before going to a concert.
The one person who DID stay longer than a few hours was my buddy Robby, soon to be best man at my wedding. He ended up hanging out Friday night and all of Saturday. - and I mean ALL of Saturday. We spent the entire day and night in the pool smoking cigarettes, shooting the sh!t, listening to music, and drinking beer - LOTS of beer. The actual count is lost to us but we believe it to be close to double-digit cases. We estimated between the 3 beer runs and the pile of bottles left in the corner that completely covered the waste can, the pile of pool toys and a stack of pool furniture cushions. The final "bag count" to haul them away was 6 or so. Needless to say they didn’t (and still don’t) believe that we didn’t have a party but thankfully after a big apology on my part for failing to clean up all the dead soldiers before they came home (and for throwing the pool Ph WAYY off) we are still good friends. To this day Robbie and I sum up the weekend in one word, "Legacy", although how (or why) we will hand this down to our kids we don’t know. |
